Brief description: Carbon monoxide poisoning occurs after inhaling large amounts of carbon monoxide. Carbon monoxide (CO) is a colorless, non-irritating, odorless gas that is slightly lighter than air. It mixes freely with air, so its distribution in enclosed spaces depends more on air flow. CO is highly toxic to the human body. It is produced as a by-product of partial carbon oxidation during the incomplete combustion of substances that contain the above-mentioned element in their molecules. It is present in all exhaust gases in small quantities. In a normal environment, CO is present in concentrations of less than 0.001% (or 10 ppm)
